Program Design

Our comprehensive clinical rotations and didactic curriculum will serve to produce well-rounded psychiatrists who are capable of providing highly competent and culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population. As a new program, we are not dependent on residents to provide patient care but rather residents will supplement and enrich our care, allowing residents the time to learn and develop their clinical skills. Residents will have the opportunity to experience several unique community-based services as part of their required or elective rotations, such as the recovery oriented PROS program, the Crisis Prevention and Response Team, and the short-term Intensive Crisis Residence. We use a block schedule for our rotations, which are listed below. Blocks are 4 weeks in duration. Didactics will occur one half day per week throughout training and are protected time. Courses will supplement learning that occurs on the rotations, provide preparation for PRITE and Board exams, as well as provide experiential learning in quality improvement and wellness. Faculty will mentor residents as they participate in scholarly activity and research.

Didactics

Didactics will be protected time. One half day each week will be devoted to Didactics. The full time faculty and guest lecturers are the course instructors.
