Nicholas DeRobertis M.D. Foundation

Dr. Nicholas DeRobertis was an integral part of the Saint Joseph’s family for more than 30 years. Whether we called him doctor, friend, colleague, teacher or mentor, we remember him warmly and miss him.

Dr. D, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of the Family Medicine Residency Program and board-certified in emergency medicine. He was also the Director of Emergency Medical Services for more than 20 years at Saint Joseph’s, overseeing one of the busiest emergency rooms in Westchester County.

Besides being a healer, Dr. D was an educator, passing along his knowledge to the students of Saint Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency Program; he also trained staff over the years in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

He was an active member of the medical staff and served as President of the Medical Board from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2005. Dr. D was also a key member in leading the Medical Center through numerous regulatory reviews and surveys by the Department of Health, Joint Commission and Center for Medicare Services; and played a vital role in Saint Joseph’s acquisition of St. Vincent’s in 2010.

In addition to the many hats worn by Dr. DeRobertis, he was the Medical Director at Saint Joseph’s for 7 years, collaborating with an active medical staff of more than 300 attending physicians.
