Reaching Out
While Saint Joseph’s has grown in sophistication and technology, it retains its commitment to its founding traditions of care and service. Saint Joseph’s strong commitment to serving the community is evident in both its inpatient and outpatient services and many outreach programs and initiatives. Saint Joseph’s participates in community health fairs, conducts free screenings throughout the year and provides speakers on health care topics for professional and civic groups. Saint Joseph’s is the training center for the Yonkers Board of Education Health Care Magnet Program out of Gorton High School and provides medical care and rehabilitation for disabled students through its school-based health program. Saint Joseph’s also provides comprehensive primary care on-site at several Yonkers schools. The hospital has continued its work with the Yonkers Board of Education and New York State Department of Health to provide free immunizations for all Yonkers children under the age of 5. Saint Joseph’s also provides mental health services at one of the area’s largest homeless shelters. Saint Joseph’s also provides case referral on-site for the elderly living in Municipal Housing in a cooperative program with the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority. Saint Joseph’s continually evaluates the care and services it provides and the needs of the community and makes every effort to meet the needs consistent with its mission. The primary concern day in and day out is what will benefit our patients, nursing home residents and the community. Today’s Saint Joseph’s is a vital resource for health care in our community and beyond and is an anchor of stability for downtown Yonkers.
