Saint Joseph's is home to Westchester County's first Child Advocacy Center to assist in the identification and treatment of child abuse. Children are evaluated for physical or sexual abuse, in cooperation with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, Child Protective Services and local law enforcement. A two-way mirror facilitates interviews and minimizes trauma for young victims. Physical exams are conducted by a doctor and nurse with special expertise and sensitivity. Our Pediatric Dentists provide comprehensive dental services, including check-ups, cleanings, fluoride treatments and x-rays, for children ages 1 - 18. Pediatric Dentists are specially trained to meet the unique needs of children and monitor their physical and emotional growth and development in conjunction with other specialists.

The CERC program provides Early Intervention services, as well as specialty evaluation and consultation services, for children from birth through adolescence who are suspected of having problems in a number of areas, including development, speech/language and motor skills, or identified with a physical handicap, mental retardation or learning disability. Our Family Health Center is a modern, spacious, state-of-the-art facility for comprehensive primary care for all ages, including infants, children, adults and the elderly, as well as prenatal care. Care is provided by a doctor-nursing team, including Family Practice Attendings, Family Practice Residents, Nurse Practitioners, nurses, nursing assistants, a dietitian and social worker. With an emphasis on prevention and health education, the Center takes a whole family approach to health care. Referrals to specialists and all of the services of Saint Joseph's are available to patients. Appointments are recommended. Walk-in patients will be accommodated whenever possible.
Under contract to the Yonkers Public Schools, Saint Joseph's has provided Physical and Occupational Therapy services to children in elementary schools for the past 11 years. The number of children and visits has more than doubled since 1997. Currently, the program continues to serve 475 children. In addition, evaluation services are provided as requested by the Committee on Special Education.
In April 2001, Saint Joseph's began providing Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy for pre-school children in Yonkers through a contract with the Westchester County Department of Health. The children are treated in their homes, their pre-schools or at Saint Joseph's depending on the best environment for their treatment.

Saint Joseph's Imaging Department features modern, high-tech equipment and is staffed by experienced professionals, including Board Certified Radiologists, licensed technologists and registered nurses, who perform a variety of diagnostic testing. In an effort to accommodate working people and for greater convenience for patients, the Department of Rehabilitation has expanded its hours. Therapists are now available early mornings and evenings four days a week, providing physical and occupational therapy from7 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Physical Therapy
Our licensed physical therapists are available to provide evaluation, treatment and/or develop programs for the prevention of disability, disease or other health conditions. They treat you using an individualized program, though specialized methods and therapeutic exercise to improve your ability to function.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists are here to provide evaluation and treatment to optimize your physical, developmental and psychological well being using a variety of methods, including exercise and training.
All physical and occupational therapy services are provided following a physician referral. If necessary, you can continue your treatment in the department as an outpatient after your stay in the hospital.
If you need renal dialysis, your care will be coordinated by one of our board certified nephrologists who, along with your own physician, monitors your need for medication, dietary changes and dialysis schedules.
Saint Joseph's is a member of the End Stage Renal Disease Council of New York and the Regional Transplant Program of Greater New York. If you are a candidate for a kidney transplant, your doctor will work closely with these two organizations to prepare you for the procedure.

Saint Joseph's Geriatric Day Care Program is a daily, medically-supervised program designed to help the frail elderly and disabled adults maintain their independence. Located in a modern, comfortable setting, the program provides nursing services, social work, physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, music therapy, art therapy, horticulture therapy, and pharmacology, nutrition, recreation therapy, and personal care in an effort to improve health, promote social interaction and enhance quality of life for the elderly in the community. Door to door transportation and a nutritious meal are provided. Professional support for families and caregivers is also provided.

Our Social Day Care program offers recreational and therapeutic day programs for persons who are physically frail or who are in the early to moderate stages of Alzheimer's disease or related dementia. Our Place/ElderServe, sponsored in conjunction with the Hebrew Home for the Aged in Riverdale, is supervised by a team of trained professionals, to provide stimulation and companionship for participants in a safe environment, while giving care givers respite time. Caregivers can leave their loved ones, confident that they will be well taken care of and benefit from a structured program personalized to meet their needs. Participants can attend a full or half-day session one or more days a week. Transportation and a hot meal are provided.

Our Long Term Home Health Care Program is a nursing home alternative designed to provide the necessary support to help frail, chronically ill and disabled adults remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The program offers a comprehensive plan of care tailored to each individual's needs, including medical, social, environmental and rehabilitative needs. Among the services available are nursing, social work and physical, occupational and respirator therapies, as well as assistance with personal care and housekeeping.
Specialty services, such as allergy, dermatology, gynecology, cardiology, ophthalmology, ENT, neurology, orthopedics and pulmonology, are available only by referral. An appointment is required for all specialty services.

Continuing Day Treatment is a structured day program for adults who have been discharged from an inpatient mental health facility, or for people with a history of mental illness who have not been hospitalized, but who can benefit from a broad range of treatment services in a structured environment. Clients are evaluated for medication and participate in medication education, as well as individual and group therapy, social skills and rehabilitation assessments provided.

Blended Case Management offers intensive and supportive case management for chronically mentally ill patients living in the community. Case managers assist clients with basic day-to-day needs, including housing, employment and food, as well as advocacy with area social welfare agencies. Services provided also include crisis intervention and linkages with community agencies. Eligible adults must have prior psychiatric hospitalization and reside in Yonkers.

At Saint Joseph’s Positive Directions, people learn the skills necessary to lead an alcohol/drug free lifestyle and to make positive decisions in their lives. The program offers day and evening rehabilitation programs, based on the “12-step disease model” approach to sobriety. Positive Directions also offers the Department of Motor Vehicles mandated DWI program. There is an evening “Spanish-speaking Track” available.

This program provides detoxification and methadone maintenance for patients involved in long term opiate abuse. Eligible patients must be 16 years or older, residents of Yonkers, and currently addicted to opiates. Saint Joseph’s outpatient Behavioral Health Center offers evaluation and treatment for persons 18 and over. Individual, family and group therapy and medication, where appropriate, are available. Patients are evaluated for admission by a team of psychiatrists and certified social workers.
Appointments may be scheduled Monday through Friday, with evening appointments available Monday through Thursday.
