Inpatient Services

Saint Joseph’s offers the following specialized inpatient units:

Intensive Care

The ICU cares for critically ill adults, children and adolescent patients, including the following services:
  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Management, assessment and evaluation through high tech treatment modalities
  • Patient/family education
  • Psychosocial support
  • Facilitation of transfer to a general medical/surgical unit

Cardiovascular

Services include:
  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Advanced clinical management of the cardiac patient using telemetry
  • Psychosocial support of patient and family
  • Facilitation of discharge from the inpatient setting

Geriatric

Services include:
  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Psychosocial support
  • Facilitation of discharge to long-term care facility, home, self care or mobilization of community support services

Surgical/Oncology

Services include:

  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Therapeutic environment for the oncology patient to facilitate ongoing assessment, intervention and evaluation of the patient’s response to the plan of care
  • Psychosocial support of patient and family
  • Facilitation of discharge

Pediatric (up to age 19)

Services include:
  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Patient and family education
  • Psychosocial support of patient and family
  • Facilitation of discharge
  • Mobilization of community support agencies where indicated, such as schools, Child Protective Services, Department of Health and parenting program

Intermediate Care

The Intermediate Care Unite cares for acutely ill adult and geriatric patients, including the following services:
  • Evaluation and treatment
  • Management, assessment and evaluation through high tech treatment modalities
  • Patient/family education regarding the intermediate phase of illness
  • Facilitation of transfer from acute setting to the intermediate unit.
