St. Vincent’s Hospital Westchester offers a multi-disciplinary and evidence-based treatment approach to addiction treatment in all of its inpatient and outpatient programs. The primary objective of treatment is to improve the level of functioning of chemically dependent persons and to assist them in learning the attitudes, skills, abilities and information necessary for successful and fulfilling lives in recovery.

Medication-Assisted Treatment
St. Vincent's programs offer and encourage a full range of medication-assisted treatment to support the recovery process. In conjunction with participation in a counseling program, oral and injectable medications such as naltrexone and buprenophine, along with certain others, have been shown to reduce cravings, ease or eliminate withdrawal symptoms and improve outcomes for patients.

St. Vincent's offers the following outpatient services as a follow-up to inpatient treatment or as an alternative to inpatient treatment. Services include:

Day Rehabilitation
This program is an alternative to inpatient treatment or a step down program for those completing more intensive inpatient or residential stays. The Day Rehabilitation program is appropriate for individuals who need daily treatment to establish and maintain abstinence, but whose symptoms are stable enough to permit living in the community or in a supportive/supervised living situation. Program services include: daily psycho-educational groups; individual and group psychotherapy; men's and women's issues groups; co-occurring disorders educational and process groups; trauma groups; anger management groups; relapse prevention groups; family issues groups; vocational groups; cognitive behavioral therapy groups; and managing multiple emotions groups, along with a variety of activities therapies. A full-time board-eligible in addiction medicine psychiatrist is dedicated to the program to manage psycho-pharmacological needs, including a full range of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). A registered nurse is on staff to assist patients in assessing and accessing appropriate medical care for physical health needs.

Evening Program
The evening program meets three evenings a week and provides a clinical approach using evidence-based practices. The program provides both intensive and clinic levels of care, focusing on relapse prevention and co-occurring disorders treatment. All services are strengths-based, person-centered and trauma-informed. The evening program accepts persons referred for assessment and treatment, in addition to those referred as a result of drinking driver assessments. Medication management, including MAT, is available to all evening program participants and a registered nurse is available to address physical health needs. See above for information about our virtual services.

Aftercare
All programs provide individually tailored aftercare plans designed to support and maintain recovery gains made in active treatment. Continuing Care programs are available for qualified patients, allowing them to remain connected once they have completed treatment in one of our programs and offers continuation of MAT services.

Co-occurring Disorders
St. Vincent's provides care to patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues in all of our programs. Co-occurring clients benefit from access to specific educational and process therapy groups as well as dedicated, addiction sensitive psycho-pharmacology. Patients are seen by our program psychiatrist regularly and as needed.
